H. MOCH. ANSARI SALEH REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL, BANJARMASIN https://banuainstitute.org/JOHE/article/view/187
Background: The bone healing process following fracture surgery is a complex biological process. Patients commonly experience pain due to tissue damage resulting from surgical incision. Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. This pain can be managed through non-pharmacological approaches, one of which is the Benson relaxation technique, which promotes a state of relaxation through the repetition of calming words or phrases. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of Benson relaxation therapy on pain reduction among postoperative fracture patients in the Nilam 3 Ward of dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Regional General Hospital, Banjarmasin. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 34 postoperative fracture patients selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a pain scale assessment and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Prior to the intervention, the majority of patients experienced moderate pain (91.2%). Following the intervention, most patients reported a reduction in pain intensity to mild pain (76.5%). The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of Benson relaxation therapy on reducing pain levels. Conclusion: Benson relaxation therapy was effective in reducing pain levels among postoperative fracture patients.
Linda, Muhammad Husein Haykal Copyright (c) 2026 JOURNAL of HEALTH https://banuainstitute.org/JOHE/article/view/187 Wed, 08 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIETARY ADHERENCE AND QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG PATIENTS WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AT REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL https://banuainstitute.org/JOHE/article/view/189
Background: Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a chronic cardiovascular disease that significantly affects patients’ physical, psychological, and social well-being. Dietary adherence is considered one of the essential components of self-care management in patients with CHF, particularly in controlling symptoms, preventing complications, and improving quality of life. However, adherence to dietary recommendations among CHF patients remains a major challenge. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between dietary adherence and quality of life among patients with congestive heart failure. Methods: This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted at Ulin Regional General Hospital involving 60 patients with congestive heart failure selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a dietary adherence questionnaire and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) to assess quality of life. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The findings showed that most participants had moderate dietary adherence (46.7%) and moderate quality of life (50.0%). Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant relationship between dietary adherence and quality of life among patients with congestive heart failure (p = 0.001). Patients with better dietary adherence tended to have better quality of life compared to those with poor dietary adherence. Conclusion: Dietary adherence is significantly associated with quality of life among patients with congestive heart failure. Adequate dietary management may help improve physical functioning, reduce symptom severity, and enhance overall well-being. Holistic nursing interventions involving continuous education, counseling, and family support are recommended to improve dietary adherence and quality of life among CHF patients.
Anita Agustina, Rida'Millati, Milasari Copyright (c) 2026 JOURNAL of HEALTH https://banuainstitute.org/JOHE/article/view/189 Tue, 14 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 IMPROVING ELDERLY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT OBESITY PREVENTION THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY EDUCATION https://banuainstitute.org/JOHE/article/view/188
Background: Obesity among the elderly is a growing health problem associated with increasing age and declining physical activity. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve the elderly’s understanding of the importance of physical activity in preventing obesity through direct education within the community setting. Methods: The method used was an interactive lecture supported by informative and easy-to-understand leaflets. The activity was conducted at Mushola Darul Hijrah and involved 12 elderly participants. Results: The evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge regarding the definition of obesity, its causes, and the benefits of light exercises such as aerobics, walking, and stretching in maintaining an ideal body weight. Conclusion: The direct educational approach proved effective in raising awareness and encouraging the elderly to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. Family support and the social environment were also identified as important factors in sustaining physical activity practices among the elderly.
Muhammad Ra'uf, Hiryadi, Lukman Harun, Yosra Sigit Pramono, Sri Sundari, M.
